KORE Oias Local

Lime Deco - Maria Chatzistavrou as Architects

Kore by Oias Local

Kori is a typical cave in the heart of the picturesque village of Oia in Santorini.

The feminine energy of the cave's space influenced to give it the name Kori, inspired by the ceramic Greek ancient bust of KORE, carved by the important Greek ceramist Haralambos Goumas.

Kori was designed to offer the feeling of staying in a typical Santorinian cave house, with a refined interior design that can offer luxurious amenities. The style and interior architecture has been carried out by the award-winning Lime Deco design studio of Maria Chatzistavrou.

The free-standing furniture’s are costume made, while the built-in structures existed from an earlier renovation of the cave. The color schemes chosen are shades of beige-cream as a background and the fabrics have bright orange and blue accents. A special study was made of the lighting to maximize the relief of the cave and, where appropriate, there are direct, indirect or decorative lighting fixtures.

In the area there are ceramics of particular value from the family collection of the owners, while a photograph of the rock "Skaros" located in Imerovigli, Santorini, through the photographic lens of Georgia Pitsikalis, plays a prominent role in the composition of the living room.

The bathroom and the kitchenette area were redesigned and reconfigured while keeping their traditional character. The utilitarian ceramics such as plates and mugs are made by the Santorini ceramists 1260° Ceramic studio.

In the courtyard, bright yellow was used as the protagonist, in an attempt to evoke the traditional "basic" colors of the caldera. The courtyard has been designed to enable visitors to share moments, to enjoy food tasting of local products and to get closer to the everyday life of the locals, hence the name of the business OIAS LOCAL.

The desire of the owners is to be able to share their everyday life with travelers who want to learn about the genuine Santorini culture and gastronomy beyond the obvious that the island offers. Their motto?  "Live Like a Local".
