Although "kowner" serves the foreign dish of tacos, the experience is reimagined through local culture (LP music, a calm sense of space). The LP records displayed across the entire wall and the high-performance speakers reflect the intention to provide an experience of dining accompanied by music appreciation, rather than just a simple dining space. By planning a structurally simple and efficient circulation path, the space evokes a minimalist aesthetic.
It is a cultural endeavor that combines the street food of tacos with emotional music.
During the creation process, we faced challenges regarding the kitchen layout due to the aging condition of the building and the nature of the space as a restaurant.
This was because there were design difficulties regarding exposed pipes during the HVAC system construction.
Additionally, it was challenging to consider the layout of chairs and tables as well as traffic flow within a small floor area.
This space was created using birch plywood and steel frames to achieve a minimalist yet clean aesthetic.
The floor features a light gray tone called microcement to add a vintage touch, and the same finishing materials were used for both the exterior and interior to create spatial continuity. The layout of this space features a long central bar that enhances communication between the chef and customers and creates a sense of trust and immersion by showcasing the taco preparation process.
Custom-made wall shelves utilize LP collections and high-performance speakers to add a story to the space through musical sensibility, providing an experience beyond a simple meal.
Tables and chairs are simply arranged around a limited number of seats, and warm lighting was used to make the entire space cozy.
