Okavango Residences explores how the qualities of domestic architecture can inform a contemporary model for safari hospitality. Rather than organising accommodation as a collection of guest suites connected by communal facilities, the project reimagines the traditional safari lodge as a series of private residences, bringing the intimacy, permanence and familiarity of home into an immersive wilderness setting.  In the heart of Turin, just steps from Piazza Bodoni, the combination of two adjoining units within a historic building gives rise to a 130 sqm apartment designed for a young family. The project began with a complete reorganisation of the interior layout, aimed at recovering the original spatial qualities and enhancing the natural light, which had been compromised by successive alterations over time.  In the eastern part of Milan, between the future BEIC, Porta Vittoria and the former Macello area, the project is set within an urban context undergoing continuous transformation. The client returns to collaborate with the studio to expand their home by incorporating the adjoining apartment, transforming two independent units into a single residence capable of adapting to the evolving needs of family life. The home takes shape from the union of two apartments which, once freed from their boundaries, begin to interact as a single organism. Miyan Khaneh is the redesign of a 210-square-meter apartment within a tower characterized by a continuous glass façade. One of the first challenges we identified was this transparent and continuous façade; while it offered the residents the possibility of framing the city, parts of it had been occupied by interior functions, furniture, and kitchen cabinetry. Our first decision was to de-functionalize the transparent façade—to free it from the functions that occupied its edge. This 850 m² private villa in Saudi Arabia was designed for a married couple who gave Studia 54 complete creative freedom, with one central request: the interior had to be bold, expressive and memorable, particularly during formal gatherings. The clients had followed the studio’s work for some time before commissioning the project. The husband is a businessman, while the wife is an artist, and both manage several projects simultaneously. Located deep within the dense urban structure of the Jordaan, a former studio has been transformed into a dwelling that deliberately withdraws from the city. Invisible from the street, the house opens entirely toward two enclosed inner gardens. A concealed place, quiet and green, embedded in the heart of Amsterdam. The design originates from a careful reading of the site and its daily use. Located in Kolkata, India, this 1,500 m² residence was designed as a guest house for large-scale receptions, celebrations and private events. The interior forms the final stage of a long-term collaboration between the client and Studia 54, following the development of the architectural concept for the residence and the landscape design of its 20-hectare site.
