The Kruizenga Art Museum at Hope College will serve as a significant addition to the college campus, providing a first-class educational and cultural space to both the school and the surrounding Holland community. Located along a main pedestrian spine, the striking 1,440 m² (15,500 ft²) pavilion-style museum will accommodate flexible, open layouts and intimate, personalized spaces for the exhibition of the college’s permanent collection that contains more than 1,000 works of art from all around the world.
The museum has two main gallerias to display special exhibitions and the permanent collection. In the core of the building are offices and spaces for students to more closely interact with the art. For example, there is a room where students studying printmaking can see the prints from the collection. The building will complete the pedestrian spine and link the surrounding buildings that will fill in the campus. The museum will be surrounded by new landscaping with several feature sculptures, and the neighboring Depree Art Center will also share a new art plaza with the museum.
