KYMAIA

Designed by Ezequiel Ayarza Sforza — founder of Casona Sforza — this new hotel blends environmental regeneration with sustainable design, celebrating biodiversity in every detail. In this sanctuary, signature cuisine by chef Eduardo García is intertwined with serenity and well-being, while sustainability becomes the link that unites the authentic with the extraordinary, creating an experience where luxury and nature coexist in perfect harmony.

Just 30 minutes from Puerto Escondido, between the sound of waves and the fragrance of the Oaxacan jungle, Kymaia reveals itself: an oasis where luxury and nature intertwine in a delicate balance. Its name, feminine in origin and derived from Sanskrit, means "miracle" or "wonder," perfectly reflecting the essence of this retreat. Conceived and created by entrepreneur Ezequiel Ayarza Sforza, Kymaia pays homage to the life flourishing between sea and land, where well-being and sustainability come together to provide an experience that celebrates biodiversity and the cultural richness of the region. Each space has been designed to highlight the unique beauty of Oaxaca, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in an environment that radiates serenity and authenticity. Here, architecture becomes an extension of the native landscape, a harmonious interplay of shapes and textures subtly integrated with the immensity of the ocean.

Kymaia’s concept enhances the natural setting. The hotel has 22 suites, carefully distributed to blend in with the topography of the place. In the highest areas of the complex are the four Ocean Front Suites, with panoramic views of the ocean and a private pool that invites relaxation. The other rooms are grouped in structures inspired by pre-Hispanic pyramids. On the ground floor, the nine Senior Suites, surrounded by gardens that merge with the horizon, have partial views of the sea and a pool; on the upper floor, the nine Junior Suites offer views of the ocean and are equipped with hot tubs for a maximum relaxation experience. Also, three restaurants, a spa, a Shala, and common areas - such as the pool and trails - are organically integrated into the place, promoting a harmonious coexistence between architecture and environment, inviting contemplation of the wetlands and the lush surrounding vegetation.

The architectural design, by the renowned Mexican studio Productora, is inspired on traditional building techniques, incorporating materials such as stucco, clay and local wood that evoke the warmth of the Oaxacan culture. This choice is not only due to aesthetic criteria, but also to a deep commitment to sustainability and respect for the environment. Sand tones and wood finishes achieve a delicate balance between rustic and sophisticated, creating an atmosphere that is both elegant and welcoming. Each structure seems to emerge from the earth, paying homage to the shapes and colors of wildlife.

Kymaia offers a sensory experience that delves into the essence of life. Landscape regeneration has been one of the fundamental pillars of the project, which is reflected in the meticulous design of the different gardens: El Palmar, La Nopalera, El Humedal and El Guayacán, which recreate the typical ecosystems of the area. In El Palmar, tall palm trees sway in the wind, creating a refuge of shade and freshness that invites rest and reflection. La Nopalera celebrates the resilient beauty of desert plants, while El Humedal and El Guayacán provide a tour of the flora and fauna diversity, reconnecting visitors with the vibrant local landscape.

Gastronomy at Kymaia is one of the most notable aspects of the hotel’s overall hospitality offering. Under the direction of chef Eduardo García, the three restaurants — Septimus, Huachinango Bar and the underground restaurant La Cueva, with its intimate and mystical atmosphere — are transformed into settings where each dish tells a story. The cuisine is inspired by local ingredients and the richness of Oaxacan flavors, combining ancient techniques with a contemporary approach that highlights the freshness and authenticity of the raw ingredients.

Comprehensive wellbeing is another of the pillars that define Kymaia, with large areas dedicated to relaxation and personal connection. The Shala, a space imbued with peace and serenity, invites visitors to delve into practices such as yoga, meditation and Qigong, allowing energy to flow and align spontaneously. In addition, the range of outdoor activities, such as hiking, cycling and surfing, provides a unique opportunity to explore and discover the beauty of the territory. Every detail has been carefully selected to offer a journey that nourishes the body, mind and soul.

The essence of Kymaia — a word that means “beauty and spirituality” in Sanskrit and Marathi — is reflected in every detail, celebrating the culture and biodiversity of the lush Oaxacan coast. Solar energy systems and responsible waste management are just some of the features that demonstrate the hotel’s commitment to sustainability and innovation. This approach to responsible luxury reveals a desire to leave a positive mark on the community and the environment. Kymaia is a place where tradition and modernity converge, inviting the traveler to be part of a dream that beats to the rhythm of nature.

At Kymaia, every sunrise is a promise of discovery and every sunset a reminder of the inexhaustible beauty of the Mexican Pacific. The experiences here go beyond a simple stay; they are an invitation to disconnect from the daily hustle and bustle and rediscover the pleasure of balance in a refuge where the soul finds peace and the traveler, a home.
