Lily's Factory

Project descripton

In December 2015, the new Lily’s Factory opened as a restaurant offering a delivery service and takeaway from within the existing building on Sihlfeldstrasse, on the corner of Badenerstrasse – a structure of significant urban architectural importance and a listed building. Situated opposite the Lochergut, right next to the tram stop, the restaurant offers seating for around 100 people.

The outdoor and indoor spaces are connected by large display windows, whilst the layout of the furnishings extends from the interior out onto the spacious forecourt. From the outside, the ‘round corner building’ creates a fluid and striking urban landscape, which is experienced as an exciting floor plan within the interior.

The open-plan production kitchen, positioned at the centre, clearly reflects both daytime and night-time operations within the spatial layout. The kitchen, raised like a stage, is the actual spatial and visual centre. The fit-out evolves from this rectangular layout and radiates into the curved space through the long tables and benches, the lighting grid and the acoustic panels. From below, overlaps are visible, whilst at the boundaries of the space there are transitions between the old and new systems.
