The 433 project is in La Costa, Buenos Aires, in the Senderos IV area of Costa Esmeralda, a private neighborhood developed between route 11 and the Buenos Aires maritime coast. The house locates on a plot of land surrounded by a dense forest of young pine trees.
The slope of the land and the need to develop the house on a single level define the house’s layout. Volumetrically, two rectangular pieces interlocked, respecting the unevenness of the ground and the existing vegetation. The semi-covered areas enhance the link with the exterior, in the front as a porch and in the back as a gallery open to the forested neighborhood.
Bedrooms are distributed in the lower volume and the living spaces in the upper one, taking advantage of the long and open views of the forest in all directions. Two existing trees are maintained through the opening of the gallery slab, promoting an even greater and more respectful integration with the environment. The front and rear facades are fully glazed, providing spaciousness and different sun shading during the day. At one point, the forest, the living room, and the gallery merge into a single space. In times of high temperatures, the PVC windows can be completely open, transforming the social area into a big semi-covered area that includes the kitchen and the grill.
Glass, wood, and textured plasters are the strategic materials that give the house a contemporary and stripped-down aesthetic. The building envelope combines concrete slabs in semi-covered places with a metal roofing system with plaster in covered areas. This combination allows a quick evacuation of rainwater and pine needles to avoid leaks and regular maintenance.
