Lowe Living builds high-end homes, so a workplace that fell short of its own standard was never an option. Its new 950 sqm headquarters at Emerald Place in South Melbourne, houses a team of around 70 and doubles as a place to receive clients, partners and collaborators.
The brief asked a lot of one space. As a developer and builder, Lowe Living reads finishes and junctions with a trained eye, so every detail had to hold up to that scrutiny. The headquarters also had to work as a showroom for the business, demonstrating its design thinking to prospective clients while remaining a comfortable place for staff to work every day.
Amicus delivered the project in close collaboration with Lowe Living and Made For, who developed the architectural framework. Furniture curation was led by Wildflower Curation. The plan accommodates focused work, collaboration, meetings and informal gathering, with each area resolved around how it is used across the day and how people move between spaces.
The material palette is drawn from residential rather than corporate practice. Warm tones, tactile surfaces and carefully resolved joinery and finishes replace the standard commercial fitout vocabulary, giving the workplace the feel of a refined home without compromising its function.
The result brings the team, clients and partners together under one roof and gives Lowe Living flexible spaces to work, meet and host. For visitors, the palette, furniture and finishes show the quality the company builds into its own residential projects.
