Mansano

Located in the heart of Paris at 81 rue du Bac, the project brings together the past of a site steeped in history, the excellence of the Mansano brand’s craftsmanship and an architecture that both exhibits the works and offers an experience marked by an organic freedom of form in response to the soft geometries of the jewelry designed by Hanna Darmon.
Instead of working on the form and deciding on the materials afterwards, the materials were chosen from the beginning, guiding the shape of the space throughout the design process.

The design of the project is rooted in the use of three main materials: terrazzo, walnut and brass. Drawing inspiration from Mansano’s origins, we sought to capture the atmosphere and exclusivity of the brand through the materiality of the spaces.
The Mansano Paris project uses a simple choice of finishes, so terrazzo and brass reinforce the tactile qualities of the jewelry, while referring to history and craftsmanship.

On the ground floor, we wanted to engage the visitor’s gaze, and to propose an extension of the city by creating a space that amplifies the depth of the space with a mirror system. It is also a wave-shaped wall in walnut that is deployed infinitely, like a large wooden curtain, where niches are arranged to display the brand’s jewelry, resonating with the curves and counter-curves of the central piece designed by Pierre Renart.

At the far end of this space, a staircase with a unique geometry is carved into the mass of terrazzo to guide visitors upstairs.
On the first level, we have created a more intimate lounge, where the use of softly colored, all-encompassing furniture offers an exclusive welcome. This space also has specific areas for displaying works of art. The works of art bring to the boutique a moment of surprise, inspiration and complicity with Hanna’s works.

Mansano Paris has a number of distinctive aesthetic features, including a curved glass façade on the ground floor that houses a unique piece of brass jewelry that projects onto rue du Bac. This is a project that seeks conceptual clarity through the use of durable materials, the interplay of volumes and depths, and work on the patina of brass.
The architecture of the place deliberately favors both exclusivity and intimacy, but also heritage and modernity.
