C&B Masons is the first of the “new look” bars for Corney and Barrow aiming to appeal to a new generation of clientele and change the customer experience. The design is comfortably eclectic, and the over-all feel is more accessible and less polished than previous bars. Open ceilings, and rough-sawn oak flooring and cladding play against reconstituted, recycled glass and lava stone. Modern wallpaper frames vintage wall lights, and bespoke chandeliers light up reclaimed wood. The project also included an expansion, opening the basement up to the venue. A wall of doors and drawer fronts in a spectrum of finishes conceal storage and dresses the stair wall, joining the upper floor and the lower floor, and red LED-illuminated “theatre-style” nosings brighten the steps. A basement-level prep kitchen runs in tandem with an open-air hot kitchen on the ground floor with a dining bar clad in Carrara marble and stainless steel.
