Located in Almaty, Kazakhstan, this 110-square-metre apartment at Hyatt Meliora was designed by Tsipkun Interiors for a client who works extensively from home and enjoys hosting guests. The interior combines Japanese restraint with European elegance, creating a calm residential environment shaped by natural materials, balanced proportions and soft daylight.
The original layout presented several constraints. Tsipkun Interiors reorganised the apartment to accommodate a complete master suite with a walk-in wardrobe and private bathroom, a separate utility zone, and a flexible study that can transform into a guest room. Integrated storage keeps the spaces visually quiet while supporting the practical routines of everyday life.
The living room, dining area and kitchen form a connected social space, but changes in material, lighting and furniture give each zone its own character. Warm timber cabinetry is paired with expressive stone surfaces, muted textiles and carefully selected lighting. A restrained neutral palette allows the textures and changing daylight to become the main decorative elements.
In the bedroom, timber panelling and woven wardrobe fronts add warmth without overwhelming the architecture. The bathrooms introduce deeper olive and mineral tones, giving the private rooms a more intimate atmosphere while maintaining the same material language throughout the apartment.
Completed in 2024, the project reflects Tsipkun Interiors’ approach to residential design: beginning with the client’s habits and daily rituals, then developing planning, materials, furniture and light as one coherent system.
