When PUR.PUR.A first encountered the empty 24 m² apartment, the immediate thought was almost unavoidable: nothing fits here. MICROCOSMOS was conceived as a direct response to that feeling.

Rather than accepting limitation as the defining condition of the project, the design began with the opposite idea: everything should fit here. A complete domestic universe within 24 m².

The intention was not simply to make a small apartment functional, but to create a home that felt sophisticated, generous and complete—a compact interior capable of delivering the comfort, character and sense of luxury associated with a much larger urban residence.

Conventional walls were avoided whenever possible. Instead, custom furniture, integrated storage, color and spatial filters define different areas while maintaining openness, depth and visual continuity.

A perforated green screen becomes one of the project’s central architectural elements, subtly separating the sleeping and living areas while allowing light and views to pass through. Its contrasting red details transform a practical divider into a strong sculptural gesture.

Every piece of bespoke furniture was designed to maximize the limited footprint while contributing to the identity of the space. Bedroom, living area, kitchen, dining space, workspace, vanity and storage coexist within a continuous interior, without making the apartment feel compressed or incomplete.

The material palette combines raw architectural surfaces with warm wood, deep burgundy cabinetry, saturated blue furniture and vivid green and red accents, creating a balance between industrial character, playfulness and urban sophistication.

MICROCOSMOS is ultimately an exploration of compact luxury: not luxury understood as excess, but as having everything necessary—and everything desirable—within reach.

In just 24 m², architecture and furniture come together to create a small world of its own: a microcosm where nothing feels missing.
