A modest semi-detached Federation-era house on Sydney's lower north shore was updated with touches of luxury.
Oversized glass doors slide away to connect the living space directly to the garden. Mirrors in the kitchen amplify the perception of space in a tight floor plate. Ceiling heights vary to define areas in an open plan.
Dark and tactile finishes define the central part of the house, as a counterpoint to the original Federation-era detailing at the front, and the light-filled airiness at the rear. Set in a conservation area, the new work is uncompromisingly modern, yet discreet
