Just 8 km west of Paris, the vibrant eco-district of L’Arsenal in Rueil-Malmaison continues to evolve with the completion of High Garden, the winning project of the 2019 international competition Inventing Greater Paris Metropolis 2, and its iconic centrepiece, Mon Nuage.
Suspended above the public realm, this distinctive elevated structure links Parc Jacques Chirac with Place Line Renaud, acting as a catalyst for urban life. More than just architecture, Mon Nuage is a poetic object, a delicate, airy presence that responds to the changing seasons with light and life.
A Cloud in the sky Truly living up to its name, Mon Nuage -“My Cloud”,floats above the public space, housing a restaurant and a rooftop terrace complete with a bar. Throughout the day, its shimmering skin casts playful patterns of light, while in the evening it transforms into a more intimate, glowing retreat. During the warmer months, its glazed façade opens entirely, allowing the surrounding landscape to blend effortlessly into the interior.
This architectural fantasy, is not only destinqtion for fine dining and relaxation, it’s also an exceptional venue for hosting cultural and social events, extending the vibrancy of the square below into the air above.
A Dialogue with the city Designed as a grand portico, Mon Nuage frames Jacques Chirac Park, which unfolds beneath its slender stilts. The space encourages interaction and spontaneous uses, turning the area under the structure into a lively, flexible public realm.
At street level, the open base welcomes pedestrians to pass through freely, reinforcing the building’s role as a connector between public spaces. It invites movement and fosters a sense of community. Above, customers can enjoy sweeping views over the eco-district, reinforcing Mon Nuage’s role as a place for gathering, observation, and celebration.
A Captivating spectacle The building’s lighting design carefully balances night-time activity with environmental sensitivity. As daylight fades, the lights gradually dim, creating a serene atmosphere that minimises disruption to local wildlife and nearby residents.
When water vapour from the misting system, enveloping the structure, light is refracted through the haze, producing a dreamlike, ever-changing visual effect. This subtle interplay of elements adds to Mon Nuage’s unique, sensory character.
An Architectural Statement Now a landmark in the district, Mon Nuage is an architectural sculpture raised on stilts, composed of 3,240 steel tubes. Assembled off-site and transported for installation, its modular, dry-build construction minimised environmental impact.
A network of 180 integrated light tubes and a fine mist generated by a fog system continually reshapes its appearance. These features are fully automated, with lighting and mist pre-programmed and computer-controlled to create dynamic visual displays.
More than a spectacle, Mon Nuage is a bioclimatic feature. On hot days, the mist creates a refreshing microclimate beneath the structure, an urban oasis for residents and visitors alike.
Monsieur Claude: dining in the clouds Since February 2025, Mon Nuage has been home to Monsieur Claude, a bistronomic restaurant led by celebrity chef Danny Khezzar. Here, culinary creativity meets architectural ambition, offering a unique dining experience suspended between earth and sky.
