Mooau house is a flagship store that naturally melts the brand's identity into the space. The movement and product layout are carefully designed so that customers can walk through the space and experience the brand's philosophy intuitively. The four-story building encourages them to naturally climb the floor through open doors, and the product is constructed to stand out by using embedded lighting. It contains the minimal sensibility that the brand aims for, not just by highlighting the product, but by placing it in a way that is naturally revealed within the wall.
To make the most of the space more effective, the furniture and display methods are designed to change fluidly. As brands grow and the number of products increases, we create portable 25-pipe black hangers to add flexibility to the way products are displayed. It helps to naturally reflect the brand's identity that changes from season to season in the space. With the ease of reconfiguring the space whenever a pop-up store or collaboration event is held, it can provide a new experience to customers who visit the store every time.
The inspiration for spatial design started from elements that harmonize with the brand's philosophy. Inspired by a showroom like a home that I experienced in Tokyo, Japan, I actively used walnut materials to create a warm and calm mood. Walnut's natural colors and textures harmonize with the brand's concept of "Stay" to capture oriental sensibilities. It goes beyond just a shopping space and serves to convey the atmosphere and value that the brand pursues to visiting customers.
In the process of completing the Mooau House, the most challenging part was the design of the stairway. In a situation where we needed to take into account the brand's identity and budget, we chose a 麻 material that could create a warm atmosphere and properly utilize natural light. Since finishing the 10m floor-to-ceiling path with hemp material was an unprecedented attempt, we found the optimal construction method through several sample tests. It has become a key factor in completing the atmosphere of the entire space.
I hope Mooau House goes beyond just sales space and becomes a platform for brands and customers to communicate. To this end, we designed the first floor to be used as a pop-up space, and we are also planning various events using long spaces on the second and fourth floors. You experience the philosophy of the brand firsthand, and each time you visit the store, you can experience new things. Mooau House, where space and product come together as one, has established itself as a place that embodies both nothingness and presence.
