&Daughters has transformed a Vancouver Special on the east side of Vancouver with the help of builder Rockridge Fine Homes. Previously three suites, the clients had occupied the top level with their two young children. The renovations included removing the attached garage, creating a new backyard space and moving the family's main living spaces to the ground level.
The project required the designers to marry the existing architecture of the front portion of the house with an entirely new rear section.
The interior was designed to be clean, modern and highly functional. Special elements of the existing home, like the wood burning, brick fireplace, were retained and reimagined.
