MUS – Muséed’histoireurbaineetsociale de Suresnes

Vincent Parreira Atelier Architecture AAVP as Architects

A tinted concrete monolith will complete the existing station at Suresnes to house the René Sordes Museum, dedicated to the history of the town and of social housing. The extension forms a base for the station by opening out a smooth facade, which extends the walls to the surrounding retaining structure.

The station is preserved in its original state and the new plinth provides a special terrace giving the museum an outdoor space for exhibition openings, educational workshops and open air exhibitions. The confrontation of the historic building and the contemporary architecture of the museum is reflected in the dialogue of colours: the soft, natural colour of stone on the outside and the lively warm monochrome of brick on the inside.
