The brief was simple in theory: a shelf for records. But records are deceptively heavy. A single vinyl disc weighs little, but once the collection exceeds a thousand, the cumulative load becomes enormous. This led to the solution of dropping anchor bolts from within the ceiling structure and suspending the shelving from above — letting the building itself carry the weight.

The space itself had been finished with an intentional aging treatment, its concept rooted in the speakeasy bars of the Prohibition era — clandestine, atmospheric, alive with the feeling of something illicit and warm. The goal was to achieve the required function without disturbing that atmosphere. Every decision was made in service of that air.
