We Want More plays around with layers in Orac’s new flagship office.
Orac is a manufacturer of designer wall coverings. Where most people see a bare wall, they see a blank canvas. A way to express your personality. Belgian design studio WeWantMore worked with them to illustrate that vision in the interior design of their new flagship office.
As so many office spaces designed during the corona pandemic, Orac’s new workplace had a different role to fulfil. Rather than just being a space for employees to flock to and work at on a daily basis, it has a more versatile multi-purpose use: working secluded, brainstorming with colleagues, lunching or meeting with clients. Needs WeWantMore responded to by splitting up the rectangular 160 m2 space into separate, yet versatile areas to work, meet, eat or do both.
“The post-pandemic way of working comes with new needs. The concept of a flagship office meets them all. It’s an evolution we’ve previously seen in retail. Where shops used to be very functional and sales- focused, today’s flagship stores are primarily meant to express what a brand stands for. They’re a way for people toconnect with a brand, rather than a place to purchase a product. Orac’s newworkplace illustrates this accurately.”
– Ruud Belmans, Creative Director Spatial Design WeWantMore.
On the walls, the Belgian design studio played with textures and different hues of the same colour. One on top of the other. The layering visually highlights Orac’s products. The geometrical cutouts in the walls dividing the workplace enhance the layered effect. It perfectly displays the versatility of Orac’s wall coverings, while showing some personality as well.
