Oval is a house in a gated neighborhood that appears as a large geometric block hiding an oval patio inside, shaping the home in a “U” form. The exterior is rigid and box-like, while the interior is organic and fluid, framed by concrete and glass.
Spaces are designed as experiences rather than corridors: a semi-covered entrance leads to the double-height living area, integrated with the kitchen and dining, all overlooking the oval patio. Upstairs, bedrooms in two wings face the central void, with the master suite on one side and children’s rooms on the other.
The design emphasizes natural light, cross ventilation, and solar orientation with aluminum sunshades—opaque and protective at the front, open and adaptable at the rear. Materials define the identity: concrete structure, Tundra Grey marble on the ground floor, oak upstairs, and skylit basement spaces.
The project explores the plasticity of concrete through curves, applied from overall form to detailed intersections. All furniture and material choices were carefully designed by the studio.
