PAVILION AT THE PEDRERA

The project consists of the creation of a pavilion that expands the services of an existing home and integrates harmoniously with it.

The intervention also extends the outdoor platform over the terraced landscape, offering additional enjoyment of the plot and the breathtaking surrounding scenery. The pavilion is attached to an existing stone masonry barbecue structure. The roof of the new construction cantilevers over the preexisting building, providing a sheltered passage from the rain between the two structures.

Large glass panels, 3.5 meters high, wrap around the entire perimeter, flooding the interior with light and offering users an immersive experience of the surroundings. The construction is defined by a minimal pillar structure and a visually substantial roof. Wooden joists, measuring 32x16 cm, form the ceiling structure, adding texture and character in contrast to the lightness of the glazed enclosures.

Natural wood is used for the pavilion’s structure, the kitchen, the table legs, and the furniture. Finally, a natural clay plaster is applied to the interior walls as a finish.

This same material had already been used in the exterior of the existing house. The design continues with this material both indoors and outdoors in the new addition. However, to create contrast with the original installation, the marble was laid differently. Slabs were cut into 70x10 cm pieces and arranged in a herringbone pattern. The concept of extending the terrace aligned with this flooring format, which evokes the feel of wooden planks.

The focal point of the pavilion is a large table designed for gatherings with family and friends. Measuring five meters in length, it stands out for its scale and presence. It is made from the same material as the kitchen counter, cut from a solid block with a thickness of 5 cm.

The warm tones of the wood are paired with traditional design elements to create a relaxing atmosphere. Tradition blends with modernity in the choice of furniture and decorative details, which offer comfort and functionality without compromising aesthetic appeal.

It creates a space that invites contemplation of the landscape, while providing comfort and practical use for its inhabitants. The goal is a convergence of architecture and nature — a place where the beauty of the surroundings becomes an integral part of daily life.
