Palas Campus

Designed by Yazgan Design Architecture, Palas Campus is the largest office building in Romania. Located on Sf. Andrei Street in Iași, the project has a total construction area of 86,755 square meters. Situated in the city center, the building consists of six interconnected blocks linked at the ground floor and the first three levels.

The project was designed along an axis connecting Palatul Culturii and the Bahlui River. The building’s two main entrances are positioned on this axis. The primary design concept was to scale the dominant mass of the building in harmony with the urban fabric. Accordingly, the blocks were designed at varying heights in response to the city skyline, and the overall mass was rearticulated through differentiated façade textures extending across three levels.

The façade is composed of three main layers. At the base, a transparent ground floor emphasizes permeability. Above it rises a three-story volume clad in 5-millimeter-thick travertine, topped with green terraces. At the uppermost level, bronze aluminum caps reinforce the building’s vertical expression. Integrated lighting elements within these caps highlight the verticality outside working hours. The cassette-type panel façade system, used together with lightweight travertine, was manufactured in Antalya, Turkey, and consists of 93 different panel types and approximately 3,474 panels.

The bridge connecting the different blocks along the entrance street axis is clad with wooden slats, differentiating its massing effect.
