PC 21 House

EXTERIA as Architects

The house is located 500mt from the sea. Its height allows to see and contemplate  the Pacific Ocean as well as the amazing sunsets, changing colors every day. Located at the end of the condominium, it faces a deep ravine in the North, and the views are open over the field and the sea. The assembly is made up of 3 blocks, open on one side to the views (sea-ravine-field-north) and closing itself on the other side, shaping an access courtyard facing the east, wich is protected, contained and scaled. Each block responds to a different use, and is volumetrically differentiated to the others . The sloping roofs are open towards the views looking for sunlight.  Circulations are treated as attached sub-volumes, flat and open.

The house is accessed through the main block, which contains the entrance hall, the dining room, the kitchen and the main terrace in height with sea views. The second volume (to the north) contains the master suite, with W.I.C., compartmentalized bathroom and 2 private terraces: one is facing East, for morning sunlight, and the second to the North, provided with a hot tub, to enjoy the sunsets. This área also contains a guest bedroom with its bathroom.

The third block (southwest) has 2 bedrooms, one bathroom, and a living/playing room. As a result of the leveling of the site, an area of 120 m2 was generated under the main volumen, that is used as a club: it contains a grill, a playground, a fire pit and a sand terrace to the northeast. The Wood, treated in different shapes, sizes and textures, gives to the volumes diferent identities.

Brushed pinewood was used for the coating in the interiors. A polished and brushed cedarwood volumen located near the Access of the house hides the kitchen cellar. Porcelain tiles have been  used for the floors throughout the house in order to unify spaces. Native vegetation which requires low maintenance was planted in the entrance´s exterior, granting privilege to the house´s materiality.
