Studio Guilherme Torres signs the Percursus Installation for the 36th edition of CASACOR São Paulo

The installation "Percursus" explores the correlation between the work of visual artist Regina Silveira and architect and designer Guilherme Torres. A large white cube provides support for the site-specific piece Derrapagens, where tire marks from different cars recreate the presence of traffic in a constantly moving city.

In the artist's words: "With Derrapagens, I appropriate mechanical and urban marks that constitute the harsh experience, fragments, graphics derived from the design of many types of digital prints from different vehicles. The idea is to recreate the ghostly presence of a frenetic and heavy traffic that climbs walls and facades, devastating architectures and transforming habitable spaces into fast and chaotic routes."

The furniture developed by Guilherme Torres either transcends sinuous movements - as in the Lee sofa, in black leather - or modifies perspectives and spatialities, as in the installation "Supernova," which includes tables of various heights. The provocation proposed by Regina in confusing our perception of scales is a common denominator with the designer, who translates his architectural language into furniture that is sometimes robust and sometimes unusual. Completely original, these furniture pieces embody elemental materials that are the synthesis of Torres' investigative processes: leather, wood, and glass.

Tensile canvas prisms act as large lanterns and, at the same time, as axes of movement. In the enclosure, floors and walls merge and serve as support for Silveira's artwork. The boundaries between body and dwelling are challenged through absent elements and unusual perspectives, another point of convergence in the work of both creatives. "A house should not provide comfort; it should provoke," summarizes the architect.
