Casa Pi - The New Home Era

Taller Aragonés as Architects

To transform the housing model is pi’s main objective, a revolutionary proposal of professor miguel ángel aragonés.

To evolve means to bet on an innovation never seen before: PI. The intelligent prefab, the house-furniture that breaks the paradigm of housing transform itself in a livable object; a piece of furniture to live in which technic, technology, science and art are available for people.

The cart transformed into a car, it evolved from the strength of a horse into a gas and sun engine, from the work of a carpenter into a machine and mass production.

The housing panorama has to assume new challenges: better quality, less cost and better results. Mexican Architecture Professor, Miguel Ángel Aragonés (Mexico City, 1962) is aware of that and presents a prefabricated house like no other.

Strong, light, durable, resistant to corrosion, recyclable and with the capacity to acquire almost any shape, aluminum is capable of doing what other construction materials like brick and wood, cannot. Since its appearance at the beginning of the XX century, it has been the engine and gasoline of modern architecture.

Technique is the capacity to perform. The house, origin of cities and culture, needs a transformation, a bigger capacity to execute, more services, better quality and less price.

PI, the new technology of aluminum patented by Aragonés, permits long spans of glass openings, maximizes energetic efficiency and allows to build prefabricated houses with a solid base of advantages:

• HIGH QUALITY
• ULTRA FAST BUILDING SPEED
• GREAT ACOUSTIC PERFORMANCE
• LOW COST CONSTRUCTION
• SMALL CONSTRUCTION WASTE

PI is a structure that works in a vertical way (as a column), in a horizontal one (as a beam or chain) or in a mixed way, to which additional pieces can be annexed to create a final configuration. This system of modular construction optimizes resources and reduces waste, which brings the following advantages.

ULTRALIGHT
Assembling is not a problem. The average weight of the majority of pieces is less than 78 kilos, this allows two persons to manipulate them without using pulleys or heavy machinery.

ADJUSTABLE
It is expandable deductible and has all the advantages of modular construction and offers the possibility of creating adjustable vertical and horizontal spaces.

INNOVATIVE
The walls, conformed by a pressure panel assembly system, are the final result that covers the layers of thermic and acoustic insulation. Electric and hydraulic installations are designed with screw-ons and plug-ins that avoid welding and complicated connections.

LOW MAINTENANCE
It guarantees the best building quality in record time, offering several direct benefits: it does not need paint, waterproofing or anticorrosive.

COMPREHENSIVE QUALITY
It allows the adequacy of a thermic-acoustic system that reduces energy consumption to achieve an optimal comfort level, with or without a central climate system.
