Make's luxury resort in Hal Fehr, Malta near Golden Bay

Planning approved for Make's luxury resort in Hal Fehr, Malta

A highly exclusive tourist destination designed for a private stretch of coastline in Malta ia a step closer to fruition having been granted planning permission.

Designed by Make for a private client, the high quality resort will be the most sustainable on the island with a low density footprint and a number of passive design features incorporated.

With a total area of 84,000sqm the site has been designed around the spacious, lush central landscape featuring existing mature trees, new plating and a reinstated natural water course that will provide the main focus of the site. A new seamless building, to echo the walled cities found across Malta, flows around the perimeter of the site and at 16,700sqm forms just 20 per cent of the resort.

This building houses 216 spacious one, two and three bedroom suites with a further 12 luxury, family pavilions set in the middle of the central landscape. A dramatic rooftop walkway runs the entire length of the boundary building and offers spectacular views out across the bay and inwards towards the heart of the resort.

Stuart Fraser, Partner at Make said: "We are delighted that Hal Fehr has been granted planning permission. It's a fabulous scheme that exploits the benefits of its setting, maximising privacy and exclusivity. Aiming to be LEED-accredited this low-density, visionary development will set new standards for tourism in Malta."
