The client is a couple with grown children who lived in several Brazilian cities, but who moved permanently to São Paulo. The project consisted of the joining of two apartment units of 80 m2 each in a building where each floor has its own garden, which gave rise to the name of the project: Pocket Forest.
The couple's desire was to have a comfortable, contemporary apartment, but prioritizing practicality. The couple's children live in various parts of the world and visit them sporadically. Thus, two bedrooms should be neutral and comfortable to receive the children on their visits and the double bedroom should have a closet and master and lady baths. The couple loves to cook and entertain friends and for this reason the kitchen is the highlight of the apartment, along with spaces to socialize.
The main inspiration came from the architecture of the building itself, which is a striking project, where all the facades have huge flower boxes, transforming the building into an urban forest. The starting point was to make the most of this incredible view that an elevated forest provided. From the living room window it is possible to harvest jabuticaba and see birds in the trees, this being on the 11th floor.
The highlight is the choice of timeless, resistant materials, neutral colors that create a contrast between them and the furniture signed by nationally and internationally renowned designers. The darkest porcelain tile is used throughout the living to ensure the integration of spaces. The Neolith Statuario coating marks the volume of the kitchen island and is repeated on the barbecue. A large and comfortable sofa by Micasa with modules for both the living room and the kitchen, has the function of snuggling those who watch TV and accommodating friends who are socializing around the kitchen.
The panel slatted in Neobamboo marks the volume of the TV and camouflages the door that leads to the laundry and linen area of the house. On the two balconies that were integrated into the living room, comfortable spaces to sit were the watchword. In one of them, there is the Corset dining table by Micasa with blue velvet chairs Carrie by Artefacto with Jader Almeida stroller by Dpot. In the other Varanda, a small space was created to receive friends and have a wine watching the city view. The toilet is what we call the little treat of the house, as one of the walls was entirely covered with slabs of fluted natural marble, creating immense sophistication. The rooms were designed to create a super cozy atmosphere for both the couple and the guests. Cozy materials were thought of, such as Indusparquet Tauari flooring, almost camouflaged Panna Cinex glass doors, Orlean fabric walls and soft fabrics on the bedding.
