Studio MEMM has recently completed the project for Espaço Poétika, an artistic production company specialized on theater plays, events, short and feature films in São Paulo, Brazil. Studio MEMM principal Marcelo Macedo says the premise of this project was the spatial versatility with predominance of wood and open ceiling elements.
The space was designed to allow theater productions and film productions to take place in its various stages, from the creative moment, through meetings with teams involved until the acting phase, when eadings occur and artists and directors can rehearse and feed the creative process at Poétika. To achieve its essence, the project counted on the wooden bleachers geometries to connect the lower floor and mezzanine, creating the indispensable element of the theater and cinema: the audience.
The bleachers were planned to be adaptable, so each event and presentation can have a specific arragenment, consistent to its content. The involvement of the team of carpentry was fundamental to ensure the balance between weight and mobility.
