New Prasa headquarters in Madrid are situated facing Paseo de la Castellana, with a sixty meters long garden in-between.
We had to work in a consolidated place; a garden with good-sized trees and more than twelve-storey neighbouring buildings contrasting with the two and a half-storey building we had to convert.
The proposal tries to solve a scale problem, to show PRASA as a modern and innovative company and to take into account environmental issues.
An undefined and dematerialized external enclosure makes the limits of the building difficult to appreciate. From outside, floor structures are not continuous, getting blurred. The building becomes an abstract object with no scale.
It is a good shape-coefficient and well insulated building. A stainless steel mesh and cantilevers protect glazing from the sun. Every workspace has natural ventilation. All of the interiors are finished in maple wood. Glass is also used in order to enable crossing views.
