Designed for a professional mother and her three young sons, the residence is conceived as a quiet framework for family life; calm, enduring, and deeply connected to its wooded site. The plan bends to preserve mature live oaks, follows the natural slope, and opens generously to a broad rear lawn for play and gathering.
A stepped composition of low, medium, and tall volumes gives the 6,400 square-foot house a demure street presence while creating varied interior atmospheres. Expanses of shaded glass gather dappled light and frame the landscape, allowing the site to become part of the material palette of limestone, plaster, cypress, and white oak.
At the street corner, a sculptural steel-and-oak stair becomes the home’s singular outward gesture. Inside, restrained materials, filtered daylight, and carefully scaled spaces reinterpret the easy elegance of Mid-Century Modernism as a serene, contemporary place for a family to grow.
