Home Sweet Home | Auckland New House | Rogan Nash Architects

An award-winning new house in Auckland, New Zealand, Home Sweet Home is a Grey Lynn residence built as a sequence of discoveries, with sunken lounges, tucked-away snugs and quiet corners that reveal themselves one by one. It’s a sanctuary made for slowing down, where thoughtful architecture, playful colour and carefully considered interiors come together to create a home with warmth, character and personality. Nestled in one of Auckland’s most beloved city-fringe suburbs, this house sits quietly at the end of a leafy cul-de-sac. Unlike the standard rectangular sections nearby, the site is triangular, with a steep slope at the rear. As a result, the unusual geometry called for a creative response, turning the constraints of the... More

Palm Jumeirah Villa Renovation

Located on Palm Jumeirah in Dubai, this villa renovation transforms an existing beachfront property into a contemporary family residence shaped by light, water, privacy, and a precise black-and-white architectural language. The project begins with a new arrival sequence. Tall white architectural volumes frame a recessed black entrance wall, where the main door is concealed within vertical dark cladding. Rounded exterior corners soften the façade and introduce a sculptural detail that continues inside the home. The entrance courtyard was planned with pale paving, shaped planting beds, white gravel, dark mulch, mature trees, low shrubs, and slim black landscape lighting, creating a clear transition from the street to the private inter... Monument House | Defined Through Reduction

Monument House is a residential concept developed around a simple question: what happens when a home is organized around what is removed rather than what is added? Rather than beginning with accumulation, more rooms, more square footage, or more visual complexity, the project explores reduction as a spatial strategy. At its center is a void: an interior garden that acts not as a feature, but as the organizing principle for the entire residence. BLOU INK BLOU INK Every decision within Monument House is structured around this central condition. Circulation, views, privacy, light, and sequence are all shaped through the relationship between built form and absence. The result is a home designed around clarity rather than excess.... More

Tribe house- Casa Tribu

Tribe House is the result of a comprehensive renovation of a 263 square metre home located within a 12-unit residential complex designed in 1977 by Colombian modernist architects Camacho and Guerrero. The original architecture is defined by clarity of structure, restrained material use, and an inward-looking spatial organisation. Rather than replacing these qualities, the project set out to extend their relevance, adapting the house to present-day family life while preserving its essential lines and proportions. Llano Fotografía The intervention was guided by a measured approach: to work with what already existed, retaining valuable architectural elements and upgrading the building’s performance where needed. This strateg... More

Anglet

Set within the coastal landscape of Biarritz, France, this modern resort-style home features a layered composition of glass and stone around a front yard swimming pool at the heart of its outdoor spaces.  Arrival unfolds vertically, with a covered passageway and stairs leading to the main living level. Landing on an expansive terrace at the door of a light-filled interior, the design immediately establishes an emphasis on indoor-outdoor living.  The upper level is the center of daily life. On one end sits the primary suite with private terrace, spacious dressing room, and generous bath, and on the other, a kitchen, dining area, and living room, all flowing together in one open-plan design. Extending onto the outdoor terrace, ope... More

The home’s minimalist exterior reveals only glimpses of the light filled interior beyond, but once inside, the home opens up into a spacious light filled foyer with double height glass walls, a floating staircase, and glass floor detail that adds a sense of interconnectedness between the different levels. Organized in an open plan design, the living room, kitchen, and dining area open directly onto an outdoor terrace that’s the social heart of the home. With casual seating, a fire pit feature, barbecue, and infinity-edge swimming pool, this outdoor area a... More

Blacklight

This two-story house was designed for those who value depth, aesthetics, and tactile materials. Natural stone, wood, and glass set the foundation, while the client’s love for dark tones guided the color palette. Deer Harbor

Set on the west side of Orcas Island, the Deer Harbor Residence transforms an existing house, guest house, studio, and garage into a refined island retreat that lives in harmony with its surroundings. The design re-envisions how the owners experience the property—bringing in light, strengthening the connection to the outdoors, and creating a home that feels both expansive and deeply personal. Andrew Pogue Photography At the heart of the transformation is a bold intervention: a clean, modern incision through the center of the house that reshapes the entry sequence, introduces a covered porch, and extends upward to form a perched deck that opens dramatically to views across the San Juan Islands. CASA ON

The Blancafort urbanization is a low-density residential complex that continues a sports facility founded in 1970, located in an area surrounded by nature and situated one kilometre from the urban centre of the city of Reus. It contains about one hundred plots, almost all with single-family homes, with straight, flat streets that close regular blocks. A well-planted and maintained promenade shows fertile and generous land, giving the area the appearance of a garden city. The existing houses, except for a few more contemporary exceptions, are aesthetically similar, occupy a large part of the plots, and are built with traditional materials. Homestead C

Nestled amidst the towering conifers of the Pacific Northwest, this contemporary farmhouse is a harmonious blend of modern elegance and homey charm. Clad in crisp white horizontal lap siding and accented with white brick, the exterior has a clean, timeless aesthetic. The black steel windows and doors punctuate the façade, adding a modern contrast while inviting natural light into the interior spaces. Adjacent to the living area,... More

Triangle Residence

"The TRIANGLE ", designed to meet the needs of a contemporary family, is a modern and robust architectural design featuring simple geometric volumes that culminate in a minimalistic and highly functional home. This house is designed on a challenging, triangular-shaped, sloping plot of 12 Perches (303sq.m.) land.  Kith Studio Kith Studio The existing sloping terrain is meticulously integrated into design by incorporating a central courtyard and a connecting bridge to match the floor levels; resulting in a unique and a site-specific design that harmonizes with its environment. The Gap House

A carefully crafted home for a couple and their family looking to slow down on Long Beach Island. Located on a particularly narrow stretch of the barrier island, the house responds to the site’s unique positioning to maximize expansive views towards both the bay and the ocean. The site is situated three lots back from the oceanfront and bound directly to the west by the historic Long Beach Island Fishing Club -- whose facilities and parking area occupy the entire depth of the block along the site’s western boundary. The Fishing Club building is set back from the street front, exposing the entire western facade of the Gap House to views of the bay that would otherwise typically be restricte... More

Modern European

Situated on a large, private lot with wooded areas and water views called for a home that would embrace the land. In our Modern European home, we wanted to capture the beautiful views of the setting. Architecturally, the sequence and the volume changes of the individual spaces make it more interesting as you approach the house and walk through it. The resulting Modern European home, with a nod to traditional English Tudor homes, does just that. Landmark Photography Landmark Photography Topo LLC It has the massing of an English Tudor, the steep roofs and that stately feel, but it’s stripped down from other details like timber framing and other ornamentation. Large black metal windows, some stretching almost floor to cei... More

Riverview

Riverview sits on a one-acre site in the heart of Toronto’s Hoggs Hollow neighbourhood, and it did not come without its challenges. The main issue was how to access this immense property. The frontage of the lot is just 23 feet and considering 50% of this would be taken over by the driveway, where was FrankFranco to put the garage? If the studio was to put the garage, as most people do, at the front of the home, it would dramatically compromise both curb appeal and the streetscape. Studying this issue forced the studio to go back in time and understand how other homes in this area were constructed, some of which were authored by significant designers. This study led FrankFranco to put the driveway on the north side, closer to the pro... More
