The Exail Lannion project is a site-specific and contextual undertaking, whose primary challenge is to transform an industrial site while preserving the continuity of its operations. The project must also translate the values of Exail — a company rooted in a shared passion for innovation and technology — into a renewed architectural identity.

The project was conceived around three guiding principles:

An intelligent building in service of excellence in production The design process begins with specific programmatic requirements. This is not simply a matter of constructing a building, but of delivering an efficient, adaptable, and flexible tool. At Exail, everything is founded on a principle of "rotation" — a concept that has informed the design and spatial organisation of the project.

An identity-driven architecture in service of team wellbeing On the eastern side, the project is welcoming and warm. A continuous gallery guides visitors through the site and frames the new landscape like a picture. On the western side, the architecture serves technical functions while preserving generous openings to create a pleasant working environment. The social and communal spaces are completely transformed through a strong connection to the surrounding landscape. Finally, Exail moves light: the fibre-drawing tower — the beating heart of the factory — becomes its new architectural emblem.

A pragmatic project The project must respect the budget, the schedule, and the continuity of operations. A realistic approach will be adopted, deploying considered gestures at strategic points. A technical approach tailored to the chosen construction system, combined with a collaborative design process involving all stakeholders (design team and client), will deliver a project that meets the expectations of Exail and its users alike.
