Located at BKC, the coveted corporate hub of the city, the Punjab Grill restaurant holds a prime corner in the landmark Capital building of this sector. An address to the most premium names in business, its arrival floor is a social space dotted with restaurants, amidst which the design of this diner successfully caters to the merit-able business approach while simultaneously presenting to its patrons an exuberant ambiance to dine in.
The concept pertains to a modern yet classical approach and creates an interior design scheme which carries a whiff of the cuisine. The inspiration has been drawn from traditional Punjabi craftwork of “phulkari” & “jali” which are interpreted in flooring patterns and panelled walls mounted with tile motifs forming an intrinsic milieu of the dining spaces. The signature colour palette of the brand has been used to create a dramatic interior setup between the materials and finishes, delving in black; gold and white. The décor has been faceted with black and white photos of erstwhile Punjab in picture lit collages to further supplement the design with an elegant touch.
At the outset of the design, the individuals are greeted by a gallant logo of the brand in gold, concocted with a waiting arena in compliance with the colour theme of the interiors. An arrival foyer with an upfront awards wall, beyond the glass doors etched with gold, makes for a persuasive welcome into the main restaurant. Flanked by a protracted bar on the right, this realm of ecstasy is facilitated with glistening frames and long full height displays reflecting infinitely in frosted mirrored background with suspended lighting fixtures. Serving up a contemporary interpretation is the dining space, adjacent to the bar, with mid-century modern designed furniture & ambient lighting. Seating in multiple configurations neutral colours shimmer beneath a series of pendant chandeliers and impart the restaurant with an aura of fine dining. The false ceiling design crafted with complementing shades and in a exquisite layout, aid in influencing the luminous grace of the interiors. A dramatic open kitchen fronted by a buffet counter free standing cold counter are the dining room showstoppers. The delectable food spread out on generous white Italian marble counters, pose radiantly below single line light suspensions & make for an inviting culmination to the experience.
The entire composition has been married by the usage of an ethnic ‘jalli’ pattern inspired from vintage havelis of Punjab and the phulkari pattern framed in wooden panels, that supplement the space with the essence of traditionality. The interiors offer a panoramic view of the external milieu by the sleek usage of glass curtain walls and partially capped by wooden blinds. The marble flooring decked up in combined shades of gold, black and white complement the inspirational concept of floral patterns and have been implemented with an abstractive twist to comply with the aesthetical crux of the design strategy. The sophisticate details that have been taken into accord, including the inculcation of vintage photos of historic cities of Punjab placed under the environ of ostentatious chandeliers, together amalgamate to create a design that adorns functionality with a nuanced sense of décor.
Thus, the Punjab Grill at BKC, is a sheer corollary of efficient space design and poised intricate elements that present the patrons of food with the regality of dining in an aura of magnificence.
