The Red House is a summer house near a wide lake in the countryside south of Stockholm.
In the surroundings there are many farms with buildings painted in the traditional Swedish red colour (Falu-rödfärg).
The house is very simple on the outside and more complex on the inside. The aim was to make a house of simple solid material that do not require a lot of maintenance. Pine floors on the inside. Corrugated Fiber cement on the roof outside. Pipes and gutter of zinc metal. The outside wooden panelling was painted in the traditional red to give the house a certain link to the place.
A large fireplace separates the living room from the kitchen. Towards the kitchen is an other fireplace and a stove.
The windows gives the rooms different views and shifting daylight. In the attic two large round windows gives daylight.
