Residential Building Perg, Zaubertal

Existing and given parameters: "plot, location, orientation and space requirement profile", are translated into a building structure that has grown out of the site.
A house as a retaining wall
... but not set in the "green meadow",
because there was already a building here that had to be demolished due to its poor condition, but which allowed us to significantly reduce the amount of excavated earth, since the existing slope could be included in the design considerations.

We wanted a house that would fit into the site. Calm and confident, with the reduced material selection of wood, plaster, metal and concrete, that captures the view of nature while having well-designed transitions. (From room to room and from inside to outside!).
The examination of the steeply sloping terrain and the existing slope, led us to the idea of arranging the single-family house as an elongated structure, parallel to the ground boundary and integrated into the slope (embankment). Thus, the ancillary rooms such as technology, utility room, staircase, etc... simultaneously serve as a massive retaining wall for the residential house built in mixed construction.

The building elements cut into the slope are made of reinforced concrete, the walls on the ground floor are made of brick. The upper floor was built in a timber frame construction with a rear-ventilated sheet metal facade and a monopitch roof running parallel to the slope.
"Built architecture must adapt in an optimal way to the conditions and fit into the environment!"

The long side of the residential building (the actual backbone) virtually braces itself against the slope and, due to its location and orientation, (garage, ancillary rooms, living and living areas, protected terrace and equipment room are combined in an elongated large form), enables a level and protected garden area.
On the upper floor, various outdoor areas are combined into a single unit via a generous terrace landscape, which allows for a variety of uses at different times of the day.
Pleasant feel-good atmosphere
The entire interior forms an open living landscape, with great emphasis placed on a bright and sunny living ambience, and the living and dining areas are arranged to allow their own unique views of the surroundings. Through precisely placed window openings, it is precisely this atmosphere that can be experienced throughout the entire, open and continuous room structure.

In combination with the generous terraces (on both levels), an open living, with a lot of relation to the landscape and yet a protected and homely outdoor area is created.
