“Re_void” in Seongbuk-dong is a space where three independent households live together as a community. Two buildings are designed to divide and link the independent spaces. The division created spaces and layers. To hold the scenery across, there were two ways : to let the axis of the spaces to stand perpendicular to the scenery or to let it stand parallel to the scenery. As the former was thought to be too intentional, the latter was decided upon.

It was because an intentional mise-en-scene only has a temporary effect and could not amount to a natural, routine glance across. The darkness of the back side due to the layering could be made up for by the transparency of the frontal side. There might be a privacy issue on the agenda. But it is not, of yet, a hardware issue. With a methodology that is tenacious about closing, spaces cannot open. The familial relationship that needs to be separate but together at the same time might be able to treat privacy as a trivial matter of etiquette.
