The fundamental idea behind the project is to match our client’s needs, tastes and lifestyle with a villa that defines and interconnects a dynamic architectural concept designed to explore new frontiers and ideas.

Designed for a physicist at Geneva’s CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research), the villa was created as a symbol of the owner’s work and is centered around the idea of a molecule.

The Golden section is at the basis of such a module where the relationship between solids and voids creates a game of volumes in the volume.

The dynamic architecture is expressed through the metaphorical explosion of space, which extends and connects to the villa’s surrounding gardens, creating squared lines and sharp edges in contrast to the soft lines of the landscape. The space is internally connected by a central pivot; the stairs, which bring together all floors establishing a notional link.

The project was created with the intention of evoking a sense of lightness and space. For this reason the ground floor has large glass surfaces, while the first floor has opaque materials like wood. Hence, the classical idea to have the solids under and the lightness above is overturned. The colours chosen are black and white, to play with the light and dark contrast between them. These two colours are mixed only with the grey of the floor, which represents daily life.
