RFV Apartment

Located in Lisbon's centre, the vacant and very compartmentalised apartment, which had previously been an office, has undergone a profound renovation. The project aimed to reduce the number of interior rooms, making the space more fluid and suitable for modern life.

The old office has been transformed into a T2 typology apartment with plenty of natural lighting thanks to the air shaft and to its location on the top floor of the building. This advantage allowed to rearrange its whole interior layout.

On the east façade there is a balcony/terrace which extends along its full length. In this area, were placed the master-suite, with walking-closet, and a bedroom. It was designed a new bathroom for the suite, perfectly adapted to daily dynamics, while the other existing bathroom has passed through an intervention in order to optimize the space by repositioning the sanitary equipment and by changing the cladding completely.

On the other hand, the entire social area and the kitchen were placed at back in order to benefit from the already existing large terrace where a barbecue was designed. This open-air space emerges as a natural extension of the interior social area which has become more wide, versatile and favoured.

A hallway, with more noble and spacious proportions, makes the connection between the entrance and the social and private areas. Either in the hall and in the living room, the ceiling, with its large light circles, highlights and revives both spaces.

To improve the comfort and efficiency of the apartment, all the existing mosaic flooring has been replaced by wood flooring, except in the social and bedroom support bathroom which was cladded with micro-cement. This material was also used both in the kitchen, open to the living room, and in the barbecue. Also noteworthy is the hydraulic mosaic that is found exclusively in the shower of the suite's bathroon.

There were introduced other custom designed elements such as the bookcase that accommodates a fireplace and tv, or the wine cellar next to the dining table.
