RH Residence

Residência RH is a single-storey house that stands out for its simplified and rational organization of spaces. Inspired by the elegant Brazilian colonial houses, such as the bandeirista house, we adopted the concept in which the social rooms occupy the center of the building, in a spacious and unique environment located under the highest point of the roof. On the sides are the other compartmentalized rooms, such as the bedrooms. In this sense, we developed a project with two side blocks interconnected by a light roof, with a higher ceiling, which houses the social and living areas.

The two side blocks are built on a traditional concrete structure, with dense masonry enclosures and limited openings. These blocks house the most compartmentalized and segmented spaces in housing.

On the left side, at ground level, is the garage, kitchen and support services for the residence. On the opposite side, there is the block of bedrooms and intimate areas. As the residence extends over a single floor and the land has a gentle slope, this volume gradually detaches itself from the ground. Consequently, the east facing bedrooms open onto a small raised balcony, providing a sense of privacy to the spaces.

Finally, the last block, the most important, is the element that defines the personality of the house. The coverage of this area with a metallic structure and wooden ceiling stands out from the simplicity of the other areas. This space lends uniqueness to the house, with a higher ceiling and generous glass panels. Such panels, arranged both on the front and back facade, create a spacious environment, encompassing the living and dining room in a single environment. Furthermore, this environment is separated by an access and circulation gallery. The presence of a steel bookcase subtly delimits the division between access, circulation and rooms.
