Rhino Gym began with the reinterpretation of an existing structure composed of two independent halls separated by concrete walls and structural limitations. Rather than introducing a new spatial form, the project focused on redefining the relationships between the existing spaces and transforming them into a unified and legible environment.
Carefully positioned openings were introduced into the concrete walls to establish a direct connection between the two halls, while a central core consisting of the reception, management office, staircase, and café became the main organizer of circulation and functionality.
Within a neutral industrial setting, two red volumes emerge as the project's defining elements; independent masses that accommodate managerial and service functions while acting as spatial landmarks that enhance orientation and visual identity. Through a controlled contrast with the surrounding environment, these volumes introduce a dynamic quality without overwhelming the overall composition. The material language of the project is based on an honest expression of structure and construction, using exposed concrete, cement surfaces, black ceilings, and visible building services. Rhino Gym demonstrates that architectural quality can emerge not from adding new elements, but from precisely redefining the relationships between existing components and reorganizing the spatial experience.
