Banca Padre Pio is a 60-square-meter restaurant in downtown Curitiba, conceived around a simple spatial gesture: gathering. Located in an area of intense pedestrian movement, particularly at lunchtime, the project transforms a former restaurant into a compact dining space organized around a large communal table. With over 6,000 students across the district and only a single school to accommodate all middle-level learners, Auburn-Washburn USD 437 required a second middle school to help alleviate overcrowding.   The new middle school was designed for a projected enrollment of 750 students and allows the district to move the sixth-grade curriculum from their elementary schools to their middle schools. How can a house occupy the land without erasing what was already there? At Sabiá House, the existing trees become the starting point for the architecture. Rather than conceiving the residence as a single object placed on the site, the project is fragmented into a series of blocks distributed among the vegetation. As these volumes move apart, they create a sequence of voids. Courtyards, passages, gardens, and open spaces emerge between the built elements, preserving existing trees while allowing vegetation, light, and air to enter the house. Upon arriving at this place, the landscape reveals itself with an intensity that is difficult to describe. The sea becomes an infinite horizon, while a portion of jungle occupies the site with an almost sacred presence. Light, flowers, stones, trees, and countless living beings come together to create an experience that already exists before architecture. Under these conditions, architecture could not be understood as an object independent from the landscape, but rather as a way of establishing a relationship with it.
