Our main focus for this two-story Capitol Hill row home renovation is making more out of less. These new spaces blend minimalism with timeless traditional elements to create open and flexible floorplans. The overall design preserves original features, such as the existing staircase and exposed joists, while introducing clean lines, open spaces, and contemporary finishes. A striking detail on the first floor is the salvaged green glass-front cabinet, which aligns with the beams above and connects the kitchen to dining spaces together. On the second, two pairs of sliding glass doors can separate or join the spaces depending on the desired function. Natural light floods the second floor, highlighting the warmth of the refinished wood floors and exposed ceiling joists alike. These wooden accents create a cohesive connection between the old and new. The palette remains light and neutral, allowing the textures and craftsmanship to take center stage.
