Ride–On

Ride–On

Tylevich Studio as Architects

Ride On is a site-integrated sculptural installation of dichroic glass, 3-Form dichroic material, stainless steel cables and fittings, and LED elements. Wall/ceiling mounted elements and floor design components interact with one another and with the audience.

The design allows for thought, interpretation, and reinterpretation many times over: One might read it as flowing water, a waterfall, waves of the mighty Mississippi, or waves of “success.” One might just as easily see it as an elegant triumphal arch, hovering above the entrance hallway.

A series of wall-mounted color-controlled LEDs are positioned behind the glass “waves,” adding a strong interactive component to the artwork. Through the use of these color-controlled LEDs, the color palette of the artwork changes according to nature’s seasons.

Seven additional LED fixtures are encircled within bronze strips of different widths. These seven elements are a reference to the seven dimensions of wellness. Floor compositions accompanied by text inserts are also made of bronze. The floor design evokes yet more waves, corresponding to the glass waves above (in location and concept).
