An existing workshop building sits on the edge of the conservation area on the River Arun in Littlehampton. The design inserts five new townhouses into the retained shell of the Victorian building, integrating old and new. The new building adopts a simple form clad in cedar to contrast with the textured and varied form of the existing brick + flint facades. A sawtooth roof has resonaces with wharfside buildings and identifies each house. To the river, the houses present an open façade with balconies at each level to enjoy the river views.
