The concept design for a new 60,000-seat stadium on the outskirts of Riyadh proposes a distinctive and efficient sports infrastructure shaped by local conditions. The broad roof, formed by intersecting glulam beams, creates a unified image and protects the stands, while the external colonnades, designed as a continuous system from top to bottom, establish rhythm, shade and a strong urban identity.
The stadium is conceived as a collective space that remains active beyond match days. Entrances, plazas, safety routes, hospitality areas, services and commercial spaces are organised to manage large crowds efficiently and provide different experiences for spectators, athletes, media and operators. The roof geometry supports orientation and comfort, integrating structure, lighting and environmental systems within a single architectural solution.
At this scale, Studio Lauria applies its ability to develop complex projects through interdisciplinary teams tailored to the client’s objectives. The reference to Made in Italy is not a formal signature, but a method combining care for detail, efficiency and sensitivity to local characteristics. Materials, durability, maintenance and future-use scenarios are considered from the concept stage. The concept was delivered to the client, an international investment group, in May 2026.
