Casa RM

Alric Galindez as Architects

The Pampa and the sea are known for being extensive and horizontal landscape whose limits are diluted in the horizon. The house stands in the diffuse border where both landscape interact. Understanding its physical location, the house tries to experiment with both landscapes consequently thinking of a common area with visuals towards both the sea and the Pampa´s landscape. Reinforcing the idea of focusing on both landscapes and considering the needed shelter towards the constant northern winds and southern storms, the interior spaces are organized responding to these conditions. The terrace on the sea side has no roof, in order to capture sunlight and the terrace on the country´s side has one in order to shelter from the sun and area´s dominant winds.

The house stands on the site over a system of four poles that merge towards a single concrete foundation, looking to impact minimally the sand dune over which de house stands.

In order to optimize the volume of the house, due to the inclined roof and the different configurations a rental house requires, a mezzanine with the bedrooms was developed, interacting with the living areas below.

Given the site´s characteristics and the decision to use a minimally invasive constructive system that allows the site to remain as unaltered as possible, a simple metal and wooden system was chosen. With the proper thermal insulation and cross ventilation in all of its spaces, the constant winds where used to accomplish optimal interior conditioning.
