The Atmosphere of An Old House
Regenerating the soul of a 40 years old house, we try to fill in some spatial object in the long and narrow site by remaining the skeleton of pitched roof and high-rise ceiling, keeping the traditional window that brings the light, and creating the new courtyard that brings the sunshine.
Roaming Spatial Sequence
There are many spatial sequences in the old townhouse; therefore we set the tone of the salon with the atmosphere of lunge. On the first floor, the pig iron handrails indicate the existence of the second floor. The gradient brown wave plate integrates the counter, product cabinet, and mirrors. Next to the wave plate, the bead curtains create the sense of depth. Colorful hair dye becomes part of the end-view for your vision. Moreover, by keeping the existing mottled brick in the courtyard, and purposefully designing to step on the pebbles placing underneath the old house, we expect to bring some new experiences to this old house.
The Dialogue and Contrast of History
The new inserted wave plate, bead curtain, and curvy handrails, and the preservation of the old whitewashed wall, brick wall, and mottled wood beans coexist in the space. They form a contrast of rough and delicate, and express an idea of innovation and nostalgia.
