Sacripante art gallery

Sacripante art gallery

it's called Sacripante, that is the name of the Cardinal who wanted to build the building that is an ex-convent from the 1700s. But the word Sacripante means also an exclamation of amazement, astonishment…and that is what we feel when we discover the spaces of this place. it's a contemporary art gallery, in the heart of the first neighborhood of Rome, called Rione Monti, in a wonderful street named Via Panisperna, famous for the old school of fisician and chemist from the 1930s. ( Enrico Fermi discovered here the slow neutron in 1934 ). that's why inside the gallery there is a small bar inspired by an old pharmacy, a chemist's shop! So it is both a contemporary art gallery and a secret cocktail bar, inspired by american speakeasy from the 1920/30s. Drink are served in original decorated glasses from the 20/30s, like the shaker and a big collection of pharmacy and potion's bottles…

the gallery opened one year ago, the 6th of november, and it's funny, because exactly the day of the opening, my daughter Lea was born! She decided to come tree days before, so neither me, neither my husband, the owners, were there! the opening was a success indeed, anyway! we opened with a show of two famous roman street artists, Lucamaleonte and Diavu'.

So we are devoted to lowbrow movement, but we are open to everything that touch our sensibility, especially with artist that can interact with the space itself. Bare walls are and high oak beam ceilings contrast with clean furniture from the 1940s. We are in tree people as owners, me, as an architect, my husband, as the creator of the cocktail bar, and my sister as a passionate of art, so it's easy for us to find the right equilibrium inside it!
