This apartment renovation in Belo Horizonte presents a complete transformation—from surface finishes and spatial layout to custom furniture and lighting design. The architectural concept prioritizes the integration of the living room and kitchen, expanding the kitchen’s area by absorbing the former pantry and laundry spaces. The ceiling was removed to increase the ceiling height and expose the building’s concrete beams, lending a bold and raw aesthetic to the space.
Each wall in the living room features a distinct finish—white, yellow, white-painted exposed brick, and an MDF panel—creating visual interest within a harmonious and restrained color palette of whites, blacks, greys, and subtle warm tones. From the flooring to the furnishings, each element was custom-designed or carefully selected for this specific project.
The updated floor plan required the relocation of the main bathroom, which follows the same visual language: a contemporary black-and-white palette, enhanced by custom hydraulic tiles. In the private wing, no major structural changes were made; instead, the transformation focuses on custom furniture, new lighting, and fresh wall finishes in the guest room and primary suite.
In the kitchen, the newly integrated counter connects to the living room while maintaining the flexibility of separation. A sliding glass door and a pivoting window above the counter allow visual continuity or functional enclosure when needed. A vivid blue complements the grey base tones—used in cabinetry and hydraulic tiles—mirroring the design strategy applied in the living room.
Behind the MDF panel in the living area, two hidden folding doors lead to the couple’s home offices. Designed with symmetrical layouts and custom MDF desks, drawers, and shelving, the rooms are divided by a low wall topped with a glass partition, enabling visual communication. Each office gains its own character through a thoughtful selection of décor, curated together with the clients.
