Student life is busy and full of discovery. Our job was designing a living experience that supported all of it. At the heart of this project was connection through shared living, communal spaces and movement between buildings. We wanted every layer to connect students with surrounding neighbourhoods, contributing to the broader transformation of the Kensington to Kingsford corridor.
Our design connects students with each other and the street's rhythm below. The accommodation creates spaces where students find balance. Study nooks, shared kitchens, and open lounges provide living flexibility. Biophilic design principles and natural ventilation ensure students feel at their best. The scalloped façade takes inspiration from the sky, with a green spine leading to rooftop gardens. At ground level, an arched brick podium frames retail and communal uses, spilling into a new public plaza and walkable neighbourhood.
